The territory, or in other words, indigenous community, La Casona is located 16 kilometers from San Vito in the district of Limoncito. It has a population of 2600 people in an area of 11,000 hectares (27,000 acres).

The community representative or ‘Cacique’, Pedro Bejarano, was taught all of the customs and traditions of his people by his late father. He continues his father’s fight for the well-being of the families in his community.

This group of people is known Ngöbe or guaimí, taken from the name of their language, ngöbere. The Ngöbes do field or agricultural work, they harvest cacao, tubers, rice, beans and also work a bit with cattle. They also participate in the coffee harvest in the Coto Brus area as well as in other areas of the country.

On this tour, we will take a trip on their traditional medicine trail, we will visit some petrogliphs, and we will have the opportunity to buy the local handicraft and learn about the daily life of the Ngöbe families.
